Van Gujjari Book Launch — Preserving Indigenous Language

Uttarakhand Samvaad Fellowship, Bhasha Research Centre

About This Programme

On April 13th, 2024, Trustee Taukeer Alam launched four books he wrote with support of the Samvaad Fellowship. This was the first time the Van Gujjari language has ever been scripted and published — a historic milestone in the preservation of indigenous culture.

The event was hosted at Cafe Laata, Dehradun and facilitated by Lokesh Ohri. Taukeer's two children proudly launched the books on his behalf. The books are available for sale and represent a community-driven act of cultural preservation.
